Marine Engineering


The Marine Engineers at Argos Engineering are well skilled, have experience on shipyard and / or have sailed by themselves. Our projects in the past or present covers projects in dry-cargo vessels, chemical tankers, Offshore, Yachts but also small workboats below 24 meters such as high speed survey / crew transfers vessels and vessel for the Aquaculture industry. These project covers newbuilding, conversion projects and flag transfer / maintenance project.

Our Marine Engineers can provide a wide range of services such as:

  • Complete basic design P&ID package including technical specification of components and building cost estimation;
  • Class approval / system arrangement drawings;
  • Class approval calculation such as flooding calculation, GAP – SAG calculation, etc.
  • Detail / Workshop drawings;
  • Pipe spools including production information;

We only work with tailor made solutions sometimes based on one of our standard design principles. We quite often work in good co-operation close together with other design bureau’s and classification societies.

Basic design

During the design of your system we make on request relevant design drawings for you such as:

  • Basic design package;
  • National Authorities / Class approval drawings;
  • Arrangement drawings (Propulsion line, engine room, alignment,…)
  • Workshop drawings / Product information;
  • Ships documents such as Ballast water treatment booklets, IWS Manual, IG manual, etc.

Since Argos Engineering is an entirely independent company without external shareholders we also offer purchase reports and quotation comparisons with total cost of ownership calculations.

Making a basic design is a profession in its own right, as a ship in addition to its functional requirements, must comply with various legislation (CE/SOLAS/flag State) and class requirements. Quite often we hear from clients stories of we always did it before and we would like to do it as such once again. Unfortunately legislation in Marine Engineering is rapidly changing but by good listening to the clients wishes and our knowledge of legislation we often come to interesting solution which minimizes the impact on the original idea.


During the design of a system we make on request all relevant drawings for you such as:

  • System diagrams and parts lists;- Arrangement drawing of the propulsion;
  • (guiding) Routing of piping systems;
  • Package drawings;
  • Equipment lists;
  • Other (quality/small ironwork) drawings.

Piping routing

When the basic design of the naval architecture and marine engineering is finished we can provide you with modeling of components and routing of the piping. Depending on the complexity of the system and the scope when can provide this service in 2D design or 3D design. The routing of the piping will be chosen as such to create maximum easy operation and easy maintenance of components with easy handling pipe spools. Quite often we also carry the routing for other subcontractor meaning the routing of the HVAC, cable trays, etc..


Deliveries of ships are often hectic times in which often much must be regulated with customer, classification society, flag State and various subcontractors while the ship is commissioned. During the delivery / warranty period Argos Engineering supports you in various ways.

Maintenance / Conversion

Argos Engineering understands that there is always a need to modify a vessel after completion due to legislation changes, update of the vessel or a complete conversion. This process is quite often under estimated because drawings are not up to date or not available.

Regularly we make updates of Lifesaving and Fire Control Plans (Safety Plan), update P&ID piping drawings and other legislation related drawings and assist clients with questions from class societies.

We also can assist you with conversions of vessels and / or systems. Depending on the scope of the conversion we first make a plan how to approach the conversion and after that we will visit the vessel and if necessary we perform a 3D laser scanning of the surroundings which will be the bases of our new design.

Conversions of which you can think of are:

  • Implementation of ballast water treatment systems;
  • Conversion of vessel due to other function or work;
  • Modifying dimensions or re-shaping a vessel;
